Electrical Engineering N4 – N6

Electrical Engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. It covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Usually electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

  • To enter N4 – student must have Grade 12 certificate (with a pass in Maths and science above 40%), N3 certificate in engineering studies or equivalent qualification with appropriate subjects.
  • To enter N5 –student must have N4 Certificate in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification
  • To enter N6 – student must have N5 Certificate in electrical engineering Engineering or equivalent  qualification

Once you have obtained your N6 Certificate, you will be equipped to work at any organization within the industry that requires your qualifications. You will be able to work towards promotion within your career by working within your field of study and gaining experience within the industry. As with any other career, you would need to work very hard to prove your skills and abilities, be dedicated and be prepared to continue learning throughout your career. Achieving the necessary entry requirements at academic level upon completion of your National N6 Certificate will enable you to continue studying at an institution of Higher Education, such as a University of Technology.

Job Chances: After diploma in electrical engineering there are numerous opportunities in public and private sector if you have got right skill. Diploma holders in electrical engineering can find work in

various fields like: automotive, power transmission, manufacturing, power, transport, utilities and construction industries.
