NCV Engineering and Related Design course caters for a wide range of career opportunities for students who would like to become qualified artisans within the mechanical engineering sector. The prospective students will be exposed to a wide range of mechanical engineering subjects. The academic programme integrates the theoretical principles and the practical experience to form a holistic understanding of mechanical engineering.

REQUIREMENTS
- To enter Level 2 – you need to have a pass in grade 9; or an adult education and training (ABET) NQF level 1 certificate; or a recognized equivalent qualification obtained at NQF level 1.
- To enter Level 3 – you need to have a pass in NCV level 2 with at least 50% in all vocational subjects ; 40% in English and life orientation and a minimum of 30% in Mathematics and math literacy ; or an adult education and training (ABET) NQF level 2 certificate ;or a recognized equivalent qualification obtained at NQF level 2
- To enter Level 4 – you need to have a pass in NCV level 3 with at least 50% in all vocational subjects ; 40% in English and life orientation and a minimum of 30% in Mathematics and math literacy ; or an adult education and training (ABET) NQF level 3 certificate ;or a recognized equivalent qualification obtained at NQF level 3
FURTHERING YOUR CAREER
By achieving the NC(V) Level 4 qualification in Engineering and Related Design, students may continue studying at a TVET College to obtain the National N-Diploma by completing the N4-N6 Certificates. Students may also apply to further their studies at an institution of Higher Education, such as a University if they meet the entry requirements for the institution.

The Academic Department Office will provide a list of textbooks once registration is complete.
All textbooks are excluded from the tuition fees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
(Students who successfully complete any level of this qualification will obtain national certificates vocational for each level completed)
National Certificate: ENGINEERING & RELATED DESIGN L2.
National Certificate: ENGINEERING & RELATED DESIGN L3.
National Certificate: ENGINEERING & RELATED DESIGN L4.
- A student must pass a minimum of Seven (7) subjects to obtain a National Certificate Vocational per Level.
- To obtain National N Diploma a student will have to complete N4-N6 with a minimum of 12 subjects plus 18 months corporate experience.
Job Chances:
After completing your Ncv program or National N diploma, there is two general career paths for mechanical engineers. Either you can work in an office, deal with design projects, handle clients or work directly on construction sites or different projects. mechanical engineers may find work in construction consultation companies, Designing companies, Construction and Developer firms, Contractors, Building material supply firms or any other industry that is dependent on construction.
You can search for different job portals and employment newspapers for the latest job vacancies.
Self-employment: After completing your Ncv program or National N diploma in mechanical engineering you can also become a job provider by becoming entrepreneurs and can start your own construction company. And you can also register
Yourself as a contractor with various public sector undertakings. There is also other options/field you can choose to start like designing, manpower handling, safety, etc.
EXAMINATION
At the end of each Academic year a NATIONAL EXAMINATION will be conducted by the department of Higher education and training
