Electrical Engineering N1 – N3

Electrical Engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. It covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Usually electrical engineering is considered to deal with the problems associated with large-scale electrical systems such as power transmission and motor control, whereas electronic engineering deals with the study of small-scale electronic systems including computers and integrated circuits

ENTRY REQUIREMENT:

  • To enter N1 – student must have Grade 10 certificate (with a pass in Maths and science above 40%) or equivalent qualification with appropriate subjects.
  • To enter N2 –student must have N1 Certificate in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification
  • To enter N3 – student must have N2 Certificate in electrical Engineering or equivalent  qualification

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Once you have obtained your N2 or N3 National certificate you will be qualified to work as an artisan in the electrical industry. This will equip you to work at any organization within the industry that requires an artisan with your qualifications. You will be able to work towards promotion within your career by working within your field of study and gaining experience within the industry.

After 18 months of work within your field of study you can apply for a trade test.

Job Chances: After qualifying as artisan , you can work directly on construction sites or different projects.  You can search for different job portals and employment newspapers for the latest job vacancies.

Self employment: After qualifying as artisan in electrical engineering you can also become a job provider by becoming entrepreneurs and can start your own electrical company. And you can also register yourself as a contractor with various public sector undertakings.

EXAMINATION

At the end of each trimester or semester NATIONAL EXAMINATION will be conducted by the department of Higher education and training.
